How to Change the Wireless Network Password on EnGenius IoT Gateways

A wireless password is important to prevent unwanted wireless connection to your wireless network. Wireless users should provide the wireless network password before they can connect. This will give you the ability to limit the number of wireless connection so the network can operate at its best.

This article will walk you through the process of changing the wireless network password of your EnGenius router.

This applies to the following model: EPG600, EPG5000, ESR600, ESR350 and ESR300.

Step 1

We need to login to the setup page of the router. Using a computer that is connected to the router (wired or wireless), open a web browser. It can be Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Edge or Internet Explorer. It can be any browser.

Find the Address bar. It should look like the one below:

In this example, the IP address is 192.168.0.1. Simply replace it with the router's IP address. Check the computer's default gateway to know the router's IP. The default EnGenius router's IP is 192.168.0.1

After entering the IP, select Router Management:

This time, you will be asked for the username and password. Enter the username and password setup for the router. The default username is admin and the default password is admin.

On the Home Page, click on the Cogwheel button (Network Settings)

Step 2

Under Device Management, navigate to Wireless 2.4 GHz>Security.

If you want to use WEP, select WEP under Encryption. Select the Default Key. It can be Key 1, Key 2, Key 3 or Key 4. If the Default Key is set to Key 1, the value under Encryption Key 1 should be your network key. Enter your desired key. You can select the Key type and length.

EnGenius does not recommend using WEP. A person with a bit of knowledge on wireless transmission protocols can easily decode the encryption key.

Select WPA2 with AES. This Encryption type is a lot more secured. When selecting WPA, enter the password on the Pre-Shared Key box.

If the router is Dual Band, you need to navigate to Wireless 5GHz>Security to change the wireless network password for the 5 GHz band.

Step 3

Hit Apply to Save the Changes.
